OFFICE Shoes recognised as a leading retailer by IRUK 500

Envoy’s oldest client, OFFICE Shoes has been recognised as a leading retailer in the Internet Retailing UK (IRUK) Top 50 chart, along with other prominent e-commerce retailers including Asos, M&S, Topshop etc.

The IRUK Top 50 Performance Dimension is a report focused on Customer Service quality of UK retailers. 21st-century shoppers are empowered by technology - they shop across channels, check and compare product information at any time and directly engage with brands through social media. In the report, IRUK specifically identified two key metrics that makes online shoppers happy: a website that perform and fast, responsive customer service team, especially on social media.

OFFICE Shoes are ranked in the top 10% of the Customer Top 50 list. As the report commented, retailers who stand out on the list are those who “focus unerringly on the service they offer to customers”, and also “ensure that websites load quickly in order to ensure an efficient service.”

Envoy are proud to be the engineers behind OFFICE’s high-performing SAP Hybris e-commerce site. The OFFICE Shoes online store not only provides a fast loading time and a sleek shopping experience for shoe shoppers, but is also fully integrated with in-store clienteling tablets to join up online and offline shopping experiences. Recently we have also launched a brand new front-end design for OFFICE Shoes, pulling together OFFICE web and mobile stores into a single fully responsive site across all devices.

Envoy are now SAP PCoE certified!

Envoy recently achieved SAP Partner Centre of Expertise certification, and are now fully authorised to provide first and second level support to our Hybris clients on behalf of SAP.

Partner Centre of Expertise is SAP’s programme to recognise SAP certified Value-Added Reseller partners who provide high-quality support services which are up to SAP’s standards. The rigorous certification process took more than three months - the SAP PCoE audit team looked in great detail at Envoy’s support set-up and operation to ensure that our support and maintenance services are in line with SAP’s own services. We have worked hard to go above and beyond PCoE requirements during the last 2 years, and the PCoE team was greatly impressed with Envoy's capability and a proven record of providing excellent support to our clients.

Getting PCoE certified means that Envoy are now fully qualified to provide first and second level support from SAP, in addition to leveraging a wealth of resources SAP exclusively provides to PCoE partners to further enhance support services. In addition to providing on-going support for new build clients, we have also on-boarded existing SAP Hybris retailers who were looking for better service and support from their e-commerce agency. Envoy is a double finalist for eCommerce Awards 2016

We are very excited to announce that Envoy is a Finalist for two awards in the eCommerce Awards 2016. Our two projects, G4S Cash Collections and Pringle Deconstructed, have been recognised by industry experts as e-commerce leaders in the Best Banking, Insurance & Financial Services eCommerce category and Best Clothes, Shoes & Fashion eCommerce category, respectively.

G4S Cash Collections is a great example of Envoy's love for innovation in e-commerce; enabling ground-breaking ways for service providers to do business and opening up new markets. It is a pioneering web application that enables customers to book and manage a secure cash pick-up and bank deposit service for a small fee at their convenience. Envoy built this sophisticated and highly secure e-commerce solution enabling G4S to use the web as the primary means of engaging with customers, as well as promoting, purchasing and facilitating the cash service.

The ‘Nike id’ of knitwear, Pringle Deconstructed is a special showcase project to celebrate the iconic clothing company’s bicentennial anniversary. The project’s vision is to enable brand fans to be able to fully bespoke and purchase a unique and personal Pringle garment. Envoy built a sophisticated e-commerce platform which made every detail of Pringle's signature styles customisable - from trims and sleeves, to diamonds and rakers. Envoy developed a super high-quality visual experience and a sleek knitwear configuration tool which successfully tackled the technical challenges of displaying over a quadrillion (yes, really!) garment options, consistently beautifully and in real time. The site was successfully launched in parallel in Europe and with a dedicated Chinese language site.

Now in their eighth year, the eCommerce Awards for Excellence is a renowned industry event that recognises leaders in the e-commerce industry. We are thrilled to find out that two of our projects have been shortlisted. We look forward to the award ceremony in September, fingers crossed that we will find ourselves on the stage!

SAP Hybris leads the Gartner magic quadrant for digital commerce, again

SAP Hybris has been placed in first place for its winning combination of completeness of vision and ability to execute digital commerce capability.

This sees the e-commerce platform continue its reign as the leader of Gartner's magic quadrant for digital commerce - an independent analysis of the capabilities and relevance of today's e-commerce platforms.

Serving up sports technology at Wimbledon tennis

We spent an inspiring day at the Wimbledon tennis championships this week, getting to grips with the vital role that technology plays in sports.

SAP's partnership with the WTA has seen real innovation in automated player analysis to help champions like Andy Murray optimise their competitive edge. Linking together data feeds from Hawk-Eye (the ball tracking technology rather than the archery-based super-hero), player movement tracking and ball-by-ball play statistics, coaches are able to identify exploitable weaknesses in opponents as well as pin-point areas for improvement of their own players.

Judy Murray explained how she and "her boys" use the information gained from the technology to plan strategies for every match - every advantage helps when players are at the top of their game.

This week Envoy launched its new brand, logo and website - the culmination of a long project to better reflect our services and values.

Since being established by brothers Barnaby and Branwell Moffat in 1997, it has been a privilege to grow with the industry to become one of the most trusted names in the e-commerce world. Envoy today partners SAP Hybris, Magento and EPiServer, has worked on over 200 projects and looks after over £750 million annual client online turnover - a responsibility we have worked hard to earn.

Whilst the brand, tagline, logo and website have changed to better represent what the company is today, Envoy will continue to be a capable pair of hands for our customers. Thank you for your support over the years.

New release of EPiServer CMS with enhanced preview and improved SEO

EPiServer, one of Envoy’s long-term platform partners, has just recently released their latest CMS version 8.0.0 with various improved features, most notably enhanced preview and improved SEO. We’ll walk you through the key changes:

Multi-publish and preview

The new EpiServer CMS 8.0.0 enables users to preview project content as if it was published before users push it live. A project can contain various pages, videos and teasers. With the latest version 8.0.0, users can manage their campaigns within the CMS and see what the new content will look like exactly before publishing. This gives much more autonomy to users and certainly makes content managing and updating more stress-free.

Improved SEO by supporting canonical URLs

EPiServer CMS 8.0.0 now makes it easier than ever to set up multiple domains whilst making sure there is only one canonical URL. This is essential for SEO as it avoids penalties from search engines for duplicated content.The feature includes adding canonical link elements to the HTML head of your pages and redirecting requests to your primary domain, which works both for pages and products.

Branwell Moffat, Envoy’s E-commerce Director speaks at Sage Pay’s Rewired event.

As one of Sage Pay’s Platinum Partners, Sage Pay asked Branwell Moffat, our E-commerce Director, to speak on stage at their annual Rewired Event.

Branwell’s presentation focused on what it is like to be a partner as well as showcasing an exciting project that uses a new product soon to be available from Sage Pay.

The audience consisted of 230 of the Sage Pay team as well as members of Sage Europe.

Office Shoes doubles conversion rate with new German site

Envoy is excited to announce the launch of Office Shoes’ German e-commerce site on Feb 24th. It’s only been a week, yet we’re thrilled to see the conversion rate for German customers more than double within the first seven days since the store went live.

Office Shoes, the popular London-based fashion retailer first expanded its business into Germany in 2013 and has since opened 5 stores in key cities within the country. The success of Office Shoes’ physical stores drove a strong German following via the UK online store. To drive sales growth it was critical for Office Shoes to provide the growing German audience with a dedicated and localised online shopping experience.

As Office Shoes’ digital partner of 18 years, Envoy was commissioned to build a fully localised German site. The new hybris site features a German domain, fully translated and localised content & offers, as well as pricing and transactions all in the local currency and with localised payment methods. The site uses GeoIP to detect customers’ locations and recommend the UK/German site accordingly, whilst giving flexibility to travellers to browse sites across the borders should they wish.

Zend, the company behind the Zend framework and Zend server, hasjust released a new tool to help developers analyse and debug applications likeMagento that run on their framework. We think it is a bit of a revolution in debugging tools and will help improve the efficiency of any developer who uses it. During the tool’s development, Marcin Szterling, Envoy’s Head of Magento, worked closely with Zend providing insights and advice and helped to ensure that the tool worked in the best way to help Magento developers.

Z-Ray is a browser-independent toolbar that works with the Zend server and displays all details of a page’s requests across all of the classes involved in building the response. There are many Magento extensions available that can do similar things, but Z-Ray is different. Unlike others, Z-Ray is not an extension of Magento but interacts directly with the Zend server itself, collecting all the data required and injecting it directly into the developer’s browser.

The tool gives developers insights into complicated Magento architecture by grouping information into human-readable tabs, lists and tables. It is a real-time tool which can change they way you work with Magento - making your team more efficient and error-free.

IT and The Method of Loci

This week, we have Doug, a dedicated e-commerce Developer at Envoy to share his thoughts on how IT is similar to the Memory Palace.

In my time here at Envoy I have found that we are in the business of patterns …. this of course is my humble opinion. We meet a client, they invite us into their homes (business) and give us a tour. We then proceed to identify patterns and …. occasionally the odd piece of furniture that perhaps should be added to the next yard sale. We then take these patterns and use them as ‘hooks’ for process improvements.

It is not unlike the great Method of Loci (yes I know you were pondering why that got into the title), also referred to as the Memory Palace. For the uninitiated this is a mnemonic device adopted in ancient Roman and Greek rhetorical treatises. Put simply its a memory enhancement technique that uses visualised structures for storing information. So how does it apply? Well I am sure you can see it. In many ways a business environment is like a memory palace and the key to really being able to use this technique, not unlike development and IT strategy, lies in pattern recognition. When it is all said and done as a developer I can string together as much logic as I want but in reality this logic points at a business process which in turn springs from a pattern or sets of patterns …. very much like the falling broken cabinet in my memory palace acts as a 'hook’ that reminds me of lightening which in turns allows me to remember the first digits of the speed of light (186) … neat isn’t it? I am sure you are all fans of Sherlock Holmes … he highly recommends.

To wrap this up I am confident that conscious pattern recognition is probably the must valuable skill we can learn. It really paves the way for various key activities from development, IT strategy planning, Risk management and winning that Wednesday night game of poker.

Last Wednesday we launched a brand new mobile site for www.office.co.uk. This fully-optimised mobile site will make shopping on the move even easier for OFFICE customers. Since the launch, the site has had great feedback so far and has already seen an uplift in conversions.
